Intel® Core™ i9 X-series processors

Each year Intel® continues to push die-size, speed, and processor core numbers further to power the products your customers want and need. This year, the new desktop Intel® Core™ i9 X-series processor family will provide your customers with even more possibilities to create amazing experiences. They will also provide you with new and exciting opportunities for desktop sales.

The 10-core Intel® Core™ i7-6950X processor released last year exceeded expectations and provided the first glimpse into the new capabilities available on desktop PCs.

Intel is extending the success of the Intel® Core™ X-series processors with the Intel® Core™ i9 X-series processor family. The 10-core Intel® Core™ i9-7900X processor was recently launched and the new Intel® Core™ i9 X-series processors, that range from 12 cores to 18 cores, will be available to you and your customers soon.

These include the following processors:

  • Intel® Core™ i9-7920X processor

  • Intel® Core™ i9-7940X processor

  • Intel® Core™ i9-7960X processor

  • Intel® Core™ i9-7980XE processor

Where the Demand Originates

There will be two groups of users in particular who will want to get their hands on PCs powered by these new processors.

  1. Enthusiasts such as high-end video gamers who need seamless, smooth play plus the ability to simulcast their games on the Internet while performing additional tasks, such as chatting and browsing.

  2. Creatives such as content creators who are building virtual reality (VR) and UHD 4K video content and have an insatiable thirst for more and faster processing cycles.

Intel estimates there are at least 130 million content creators alone who could potentially upgrade to one of the latest Intel® Core™ X-series processors.

The new Intel® Core™ X-series processor family marks a substantial advance in high-end performanceˆ.

Some examples include:

  • Mega-tasking gamers can expect up to a 30 percent increase in overall performance1

  • Content creators enjoy up to 30 percent faster 4K video editing2

  • VR content creation sees an up-to-20 percent boost3

The continued progression of ever-faster desktop PC devices is good news for those of you looking for upward marketing pull for existing Intel® Core™ X-series processors on your shelves from the 4-core Intel® Core™ i5-7640X processor to the 10-core i9-7900X.

Your sales associates will now be equipped with more choices for customer computing needs. They should find it easier to discuss price, upgrade paths, and the benefits of future-proofing their PCs to meet the requirements of the newest games, video tools, and VR capabilities.

Newest Processors Ship Soon

The next Intel® Core™ X-series processor, scheduled to be released August 28, 2017, is the 12-core Intel® Core™ i9-7920X. In September, the 14-core Intel® Core™ i9-7940X, the 16-core Intel® Core™ i9-7960X, and the 18-core Intel® Core™ i9-7980XE processors hit the shelves.

Motherboards equipped with the Intel® X2999 chipset motherboards support these new processors.

Make Sure Your Team is Ready

As Intel continues to raise the bar on desktop PC performanceˆ, market demand continues to respond. You and your sales associates benefit with the ability to provide your customers with more choice, more power, and optimal performance. Upgrade and add-on sales opportunities should also be strong.

Make sure your sales team is well-informed about all the capabilities and benefits of the latest Intel® Core™ X-series processor family by encouraging them to participate in the Intel® Retail Edge Program.
